🦁 Awaken the Lion Within: Intuition, Instinct, and Intelligence in the Practice of Magick

🔮 The Magickal Jungle Metaphor

Imagine three lions…

  • The first lion roams free in the jungle. He was born wild. He knows the subtle signs in the air that signal danger, the sacred time to stalk prey, and when to rest under the shade of ancestral trees. He’s never been told who he is—he simply knows. His instincts are sharp, and his intuition is honed through direct relationship with the land. He embodies the purest expression of natural law.
  • The second lion was captured from the wild and placed in a zoo. Though he once knew the scent of freedom, he was taught to ignore his inner rhythm. He was fed on a schedule, locked in artificial light, and forced to adapt to the rules of survival in captivity. His instincts didn’t vanish—but they were buried under years of control, reward, punishment, and observation.
  • The third lion was born in captivity and then released into the wild. His heart beats with ancestral memory, but he struggles to make sense of the world outside his enclosure. His body remembers, but his mind is hesitant. He watches the sky like a stranger. He’s not weak—he’s awakening.

These lions are metaphors for how human beings navigate magick, intuition, and spiritual power in a world shaped by social conditioning, formal education, and spiritual amnesia.

🧠 Instinct, Intuition, and Intelligence: Magick’s Trinity

To manifest powerfully, we must understand the sacred distinction between instinct, intuition, and intelligence—and how these inner tools operate in both wildness and captivity.

1. Instinct:

Your biological compass—the primal, subconscious impulses passed down through ancestral DNA. Instinct warns you when something feels "off" before your mind can explain why. It governs survival, mating, threat detection, and body-based knowing.

🐾 The lion knows when to strike—not because he thinks, but because he feels the precise moment in his bones.

In magick, instinct whispers when to stop a spell, change ingredients, or protect yourself. When ignored, it often results in burnout or spiritual misfires.

2. Intuition:

The energetic awareness that arises from soul and spirit. It’s often subtle, nonlinear, and symbolic. Intuition taps into the unseen web of reality—the language of dreams, synchronicities, signs, and energetic resonance.

🌙 The lion lifts his head not because he heard a sound—but because something in the atmosphere shifted.

In magick, intuition guides you to the right ritual, the correct candle color, or a message in a random book that answers your deepest question.

3. Intelligence:

The mental software developed through learning, reading, training, and observation. It helps you create structure and apply logic. Intelligence is valuable—but can be a cage when it overrides instinct and intuition.

🏛️ The lion learns the zookeeper’s schedule and follows it—but forgets how to hunt.

In magick, intelligence organizes your altar, tracks moon cycles, studies correspondences—but without instinct and intuition, your spells are hollow formulas, not living rituals.

🧙🏽‍♀️ How Education & Social Conditioning Dull Magick

Our formal education system and social conditioning often reward conformity, logic, and external validation over internal knowing.

  • Children are taught to raise their hands before speaking, even if their soul is screaming.
  • Students are rewarded for memorization, not for listening to their gut or exploring invisible realms.
  • We’re trained to “trust the experts,” “follow the data,” and ignore feelings that can’t be measured.

Over time, this dims our ability to hear our inner voice.
In magick, this disconnection leads to self-doubt, fear of “doing it wrong,” and spiritual stagnation.

But your soul was never meant to live in a zoo.

🔥 7 Tips to Rewild Your Magickal Instincts & Intuition

Here are seven powerful ways to reawaken your magickal instincts and reclaim your wild intuitive power:

1. Spend Time in Silence Without Input

No music. No podcast. No book. Just listen. Your spirit guides whisper in silence. Your instincts rise when external noise drops.

2. Practice Embodied Magick

Hold your tools. Smell your herbs. Sew your dolls. Let your body become your spellbook. Your fingers remember what your mind forgets.

3. Create Without Planning

Let yourself perform a ritual with no script—only a feeling. Ask: “What color wants to be lit today?” “Which stone calls to me?” Trust your answer.

4. Keep an Intuition Journal

Write down hunches, feelings, dreams, symbols. Reflect weekly to notice patterns. You’ll begin to see your inner compass is accurate.

5. Deprogram with Shadow Work

Ask: What rules am I following that were never mine?
Write them out. Burn them if needed. Free the lion who was never meant to live in a cage.

6. Reconnect with Nature

Walk barefoot. Watch clouds. Stare at water. You are a creature of Earth. The jungle of your spirit lives in the trees, not the textbooks.

7. Honor All Three: Instinct, Intuition, Intelligence

Don’t exile your mind. Integrate it. Intelligence is your servant—not your master. When all three work together, you become a Magickal Force of Nature.

🌕 Final Reflection: Which Lion Are You?

Are you:

  • The wild lion—remembering the fullness of your magick?
  • The captured lion—surviving, but longing for more?
  • The rewilded lion—awakening to instincts long buried?

No matter where you begin, the path home is the same: Listen to yourself again.

Your magick was never meant to be tamed.
