DIY Doll Shoes Tutorial How to Make Doll Thong Sandals

DIY Doll Shoes Tutorial How to Make Doll Thong Sandals

By Cassandra George Sturges
One of the things that I have to remember when making doll shoes is that—the dolls are not going to be actually walking with the shoes on.

I know that sounds crazy—but sometimes I stress myself out with minor details as if the doll sandal needs a stronger glue or strap.

So, when you are making these cute doll sandals, take a deep breath and remind yourself that your doll will not be walking with these shoes—at least not in this realm of reality.

Yes, she may have a role in the Movie Toy Story 4—but that is a completely different conversation.

I chose to use felt as the sandal trap, covered with lace.  People tell me that these two fabrics do not go together. However, I don’t believe in rules. I don’t believe that any other person on this planet have a right to tell other people how to be creative.

If you would like to make these shoes for your doll watch my YouTube Tutorial videos Part 1 and Part 2:

Part 1

I think one of the primary reasons that people lose their ability to be creative is because they listen to other people tell them what to make; what colors are acceptable for various projects;  and what mediums go together.

We are all creative beings. We came to planet earth to express our own unique individuality. Don’t let other people’s views, perspectives, and ideas about beauty prevent you from letting your creativity shine through.

If your doll does not have a split between her big toe and her other toes, use a strap to go across her foot. I like to use the E-6000 because it has a forgiving spirit. It will give you an opportunity to re-position your doll shoe parts-- until it is just the way you like it.

Biggest Mistake of my Life Part 1

Biggest Mistake of my Life Part 1

By, Cassandra George Sturges

My boyfriend and I went to see the play Chorus Line in Stratford, Ontario. The audience cheered, laughed, cried, and gave the actors a standing ovation. My boyfriend was weeping.

Let me just be honest, I am not a fan of musicals in general—so to say the least I was entertained and I deeply respect the hard work, effort, and dedication that went into creating this massive body of work.

I felt guilty for not being moved as I had been while watching the plays: King Richard III and the Pirates of Penzance – that literally took my breath away --while my boyfriend slept. I must admit, I love flashy costumes and dialogue that demands my attention and challenge my comfort zone.

I finally realize the biggest mistake of my life—I have spent way too much time trying to figure out how to get people to like me—like my books—like my dolls—who never ever will. I am simply not their cup of tea. It doesn’t mean anything.  There are billions of people in the world. It would be terribly boring if we all loved the exact same thing.

The people who do not like my style are not evil or mean. But, the most important lesson that I have learned is that, I don’t need to change who I am and my style to please anyone—but the God/Goddess inside of me. Period.

All of my dolls (male and female) are anatomically correct. I have thought about not sewing on their nipples and external reproductive parts because I know some people are turned off by these characteristics. I have taught human sexuality for over a decade, and frankly, I can’t imagine leaving this part of the human anatomy blank.

To me leaving this area blank, implies that their is something innately wrong with  being a sexual being.

I need to accept that for me being normal means—being who I am the way God made me. No one is going to love or accept me until, I learn to love and accept myself. Sometimes the biggest lesson  we learn in life is not about how to accept the differences in other people—but learning how to accept the differences in ourselves.

There was absolutely nothing they could have done better or differently that would have made me love the play—it wasn’t personal. Humans are not created to like and enjoy the exact same activities. The world would be a very boring place to visit.

I humbly introduce you to Jungle Beauty Goddess Namib, one of the seven sisters in my fantasy science fiction book, Pretty Blue Ball. This is an excerpt from the book.

No sew No Glue Doll Clothes Coming Soon

 By Cassandra George Sturges

My mother would always say, “People in this world will make you or break you.” When I was a know-it-all-teenager, I remember arguing with my mother about not letting people change who you are as a person.

Every time my mother said that I would cringe and say to her, “How could you let other people’s words and actions change who you are. It is so weak minded and pathetic.” My mother would say, keep living, you are still wet behind ears without a pot to piss in and window to throw it out of.”

I have always been a, what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of person. Honest to a flaw. Talk wayyyy too much. Always telling my business, my hopes, and my dreams to anybody who would listen. I never assumed for a single moment that people would try to exploit me or take my ideas. I thought these type of people only existed in movies and on television.

So I am shopping in Joann’s Fabric store—right? My favorite place in the world and the cashier checking me out asks, “So what are you making?”

I told her everything that I was working on with so much joy and enthusiasm in my voice, I sounded like Will Ferrel in the movie Elf.

After I finished, I asked her—so what are you working on and she said, “I am not telling anyone because I don’t want someone to steal my idea before I have a chance to execute it myself.” She said it as if she was appalled and disgusted by my audacity to ask her such a private and personal question.

I was stunned by her answer. This was two years ago. Since then I have copyrighted the Jungle Beauty Goddess series and artwork with the Library of Congress.

I have since stopped talking about my dreams with anyone. The people who resonant with me will find me.

The one thing that I have learned is that since I have stopped talking about my dreams to other people, I am able to accomplish more in less time. I think that the passionate energy that I would normally give away by talking too much—I now take that exuberant energy and pour it into my dreams.

And since the only other being, I am communicating with is my muse—we have developed a more profound relationship that allows me to hear and see my ideas clearer.
When people ask me, what am I working on I say… oh nothing just playing around to see what comes to me.

While meditating, I had a vision for a no sew, no glue Jungle Beauty Goddess doll clothes collection with original patterns. After the retrograde ends May 22, 2016, I will release the patterns and how to YouTube series.

Silence is golden. My mother was right. I don’t think that people break or make you into something less—I think people chisel you into unveiling the gifts inside of you-- so that you are able to un-apologetically express who you were meant to be.
